February 27, 1942 - February 24, 2022
Our beautiful mother, wife, Nana and friend, our joyful inspiration and champion, passed away February 24, 2022 in Provo, Utah at the age of 79 from complications of a chronic condition. Aloma Dorloha Jensen Olsen was born February 27, 1942 in Grass Valley, California. Her Father and Mother, Dorel and Aloha Hamblin Jensen, and two older brothers, Dorel and Dorwayne, were so excited to welcome this beautiful baby girl into their family. From a very early age she had a gentle and joyful spirit. The family moved a few times over the years before settling in Mesa, Arizona and now had six siblings with the addition of Pete, Lei Lani and Lonald. The Jensen family bought a dairy and Dorloha learned how to work hard and enjoy it. She loved her mother so dearly and they had such a close and impactful relationship, which she would miss every day of her life as her mother passed away when Dorloha was 18. Participating in church youth groups, sports at Mesa High School, a band leader and lead baton twirler, one of her biggest regrets is that they did not have flaming batons for her to perform with back then! Dorloha was active and popular in her school days. One evening, she and a few girlfriends were trying to push their stalled car out of the road, when a pickup pulled up and a few cowboys jumped out to save the day. One of those cowboys was Douglas Freeman. They dated for a few months and married shortly after. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland California LDS Temple. Eight "amazing and brilliant" children came from this union (Her words). Dorloha loved being a mother and nana! After losing her beloved Mother, she realized the importance of and blessing of being a mother and cherished it. In the 1970's the Freeman family fell on very hard financial times. She had battled colon cancer and survived major surgery, which made her last four pregnancies miraculous, landing her in the medical journals. To help with those large medical bills, she determined she needed to work outside the home. It was a hard decision for her, but was soon apparent that she had a keen business mind and a work ethic that propelled her to be a top producer in real estate, network marketing, and inspirational speaking. Other business opportunities presented themselves over the years, and she was determined and enthusiastic about learning new ways, expanding her mind, and helping people. All while raising eight children! Extraordinary true grit! She had a love of learning and always had two or three books she was studying and reading at all times. She was a dynamic teacher and influenced many with her love of the gospel, genealogy, and history! She loved this country and was an avid American history student. When Doug passed away in 2006, she wasn't sure what her future held. She spent some years on her own for the first time in her life and learned to love it. A few years later, she met Larry Olsen. What a wonderful addition to our family! They were married in November of 2009. He loved his "Aloma" with all of his heart and they spent the last years of her life in happiness and fun. It was a wonderful thing to witness our Mother so content and joyful as she was with Larry. He provided a peace and tranquility to her life that she had never known. For that, our family will always be grateful for Larry Olsen. Dorloha was a fearless dreamer! She loved people from all over the globe, from all walks of life and all belief systems. She loved to listen to and share people's stories, love personified. She lived to serve and help those around her. Charity will absolutely be one of her greatest legacies. Grace, style, bravery, intelligence and childlike wonder, her laughter and smile could fill the room! Aloma Dorloha Jensen Olsen was a renaissance woman and we will miss her unconditional love and her ability to see the good in everyone, every day! We love you Mom! Aloma Dorloha is survived by her husband Larry Olsen. Her eight children: Wendelyn (Charlie) Delyn (Johnny) Jonna (Shawn) Marion (Scott) Seth Clint (Camille) Jacob (Janet) Amber Thirty Grand-Angels. Seventeen Great Grand-Angels, with two more on the way. Her beloved sister LeiLani and brothers Dorwayne (Susan), Pete and Lon (Denise). Nieces, Nephews and wonderful friends. 💗 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Interment will follow in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
