Amelia Marsh Andersen
July 18, 1927 - July 18, 2013
Our beloved mother, Amelia Elizabeth Marsh Andersen, 86, died peacefully on July 18, 2013 at her home in Provo, Utah, surrounded by those who loved her. She didn't care about looking glamorous or acquiring material goods. She loved her family, other people, travel, politics, family history, her career in microbiology, gardening and flower arranging. She brought joy wherever she went and was unfailingly loving and appreciative of our efforts to serve her these past few years. Our pain at losing her is eased by knowing she is with her husband, our father Kay J. Andersen, whom she deeply loved and has missed for the past nine years. We will miss her beautiful smile, her devotion to family, and her loving embraces. Amelia was born in Los Angeles, California to Ernest True and Grace Marsh on Sept. 24, 1926. She graduated from UCLA with high honors and married Kay J. Andersen on Aug. 15, 1949. Together they raised seven children while living in Southern California, Hawaii, Michigan, Wisconsin and Northern California. Amelia was preceded in death by her husband Kay, parents, and sister, Margaret Reedy. She is survived by her children: Kathi Kohler (Rich), Alan Andersen, Paula Tibbitts (Loel), Gail Newbold (Dave), Phil Andersen (Candace), Dan Andersen (Kris) and Ginger Andersen. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Edgemont 14th Ward Chapel, 4200 North Foothill Drive, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Her interment will take place after the funeral at East Lawn Memorial Hills, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected]
