Anthony J. (Holden) Sorenson
March 21, 1950 - February 18, 2015
My beloved sweetheart, Anthony J. (Holden) Sorenson, passed away February 18, 2015 at his home in Orem. Holden was born in Provo, Utah on March 21, 1950, to Kathryn Richards Sorenson and John Leon Sorenson. He was the second of nine children. He loved his family and had fond memories of playing baseball and basketball with his brothers. They even continued to play basketball together in their adult years at reunions. He had two sons, Palyn and Aaron. He enjoyed a twenty-year career with Burrelles Newspaper Clipping Service in Provo. He loved his work because he got to read all day. An avid reader, he loved all kinds of books, from science fiction to mysteries to science. He was an interesting conversationalist, because he was so well-read. As a boy, when not playing baseball with his brothers, he lived in the library. He learned to read before he entered school. He was a tenacious learner. He loved to learn and research how to do new things. He would keep at it until he figured it out. He was a learner and a researcher at heart. He was also an artist. His love of art showed through his drawings. He played the role of a starving artist in Arizona’s deserts. With his three mule Chihuahuas, he created and sold his art work to local galleries. He also loved spending time in the Red Rocks of Moab. He loved animals and they loved him. It was in his nature to rescue, feed, and care for any cat that came his way. Holden met his best friend and partner, Patti Wetmore, through a mutual friend. They enjoyed biking and hiking, and shared a love of reading. Their morning tradition included doing crosswords together. They loved working and spending time with each other and were true and beloved partners. Holden had a wonderful sense of humor and kept people laughing wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his father, John Leon Sorenson; step-mother, Helen Sorenson; sons, Aaron and Palyn (Jill); brothers, Jeffrey (Merle), Matthew (Deb), Robert (Winnie), Joseph (Kay), Curtis (Janiel), Martin (Becky), and Stanley; and sister, Stacey Pearce. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Richards Sorenson. There will be a private service for the family and close friends. Holden’s ashes will be spread in the place he so loved, the Red Rocks of Moab. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com.
