Barbara Ann Smith Jasperson
January 27, 1935 - February 21, 2018
Our sweet wife, sister, mother, grandma, great grandma, and friend, Barbara Ann Smith Jasperson was welcomed home by her parents and her loving son Kelly. She left this earthly existence on Wed., Feb. 21, 2018 after a long battle with diabetes. Her sweetheart and loving family were by her side. She was born Jan. 27, 1935 to Lawrence LeRoy Smith and Pearl Dean Trickle in Montrose, CO. She was the second to the last of 9 children, with only Shirlene Peterson (Dick) and Patricia Bartlett (Roy deceased) as her only surviving siblings. Mom’s family moved to Utah and it was here that she met her sweetheart, Kenneth Melvin Jasperson. They were married in Provo, Mar. 14, 1953 and later sealed for time and eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. They were weeks short of celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary. They had a very sweet bond, always holding hands and smoochin. You never doubted that they loved each other. Mom was a skilled and talented homemaker; she loved to cook and sew clothes for us kids. She was well known for her beautiful handmade quilts. She served in many church callings, but her favorite was coaching the girls in the young women’s sports program. She loved camping, fishing and a mean game of screwy lewy. Mom was loved. She was tough as nails when it came to discipline but she loved her kids. She was proud of us and the lives we have made with our spouses and her grandchildren. Her grands and greats were her pride and joy and she loved every minute spent with them. She is survived by her sweetheart, Kenneth; daughters: KenaLee (Bartt) Hollingshead, Karla (Jeff) Peterson, Konni (Steven) Youd and KaeLynn (Michael) Blair; son, Kevin (Bea) Jasperson; 20 grandkids, 42 great-grands, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Mon., Feb. 26, 2018 at the East Bay 1st Ward Chapel, 424 West 1200 South, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday, February 25 from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to The American Diabetes foundation or the LDS Missionary Fund.
