Dr. Betty Farrell Dodge Harrison-Merrell Obituary (1928

Dr. Betty Dodge Harrison-Merrell passed away 7 December 2016. She was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, on 1 November 1928 to Harold Hazelwood and Marion Holden Dodge and lived on a homestead in Fontenelle, Wyoming. When Betty was 10 years old their family moved to Bluffdale, Utah, so Betty and her sister Avon could attend school. Later they moved to Provo, Utah, where Betty attended Provo High School. She received her PhD from BYU in 1965. She taught Educational Psychology at BYU until she retired in 1993. Betty specialized in teaching children with learning disabilities. Betty is now reunited with those who preceded her in death: her parents Harold and Marion, her sister Avon, her son Harold Brent, and her husband, Vern Carl Merrell. She is survived by her daughter Rosemary (DeeVere) Mortensen, and her grandchildren Jennifer (Paul) Gurney, Jonathan (Deneen) Ludwig, Karen (Roland) Wimpey, and Carissa (Brandon) Taylor. Betty has 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Grandview 6th Ward Chapel, 1600 North 1880 West, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday, December 11, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
