    Blayne Franklin Stevens

    March 25, 1921 - July 4, 2016

Blayne Franklin Stevens passed away on July 4, 2016 at the impressive age of 95. He was born on March 25, 1921 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to David Earl Stevens and Winona Ursenbach. Blayne was raised on a farm and loved wide open spaces. He learned early in life to love animals and had a special way with horses. At 7 years old when his father died, he took on many family responsibilities on the farm. A love for the gospel was instilled into Blayne's life at a very young age and in 1941 he was called by Heber J. Grant to be the first missionary to serve in the Western Canada mission. Blayne also proudly served in the Armed Forces until his uncle became ill and he was needed back on the farm. While on leave, Blayne met the love of his life, Orvilla Allred. They were married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple on July 19, 1945. They later served 3 temple missions together in South Korea, Denver and St. Louis. To this union were born 5 children: Mont (PJ), LaRon (Jeanne), Gae, Mona (Kris), Wendy (Jim). Preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, son Mont, 3 grandchildren, and many more. Special thanks to Inspiration Home Health & Hospice and Orchard Park for their loving care of our dad and support of our family. Papa, enjoy your ride into the Canadian sunset on your favorite horse, Rocky. You will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Grandview 15th Ward Chapel, 1122 Grand Avenue, Provo, Utah. Friends may call on the family at the church on Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
