Cady Joy Oveson Gleave Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cady Joy, loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, on January 18, 2014. Cady truly brought great Joy, to all of those whose lives she touched. Cady was born November 20, 1940, in Provo, Utah, to Melvin J. Oveson and Romania Allred. She attended Joaquin Elementary, Farrer Jr. High, and Provo High School. While there, she met the love of her life, Lonnie Gleave, the year she turned fifteen. She and Lonnie sang "True Love" at an assembly, and would get in trouble by Mr. Warner for holding hands in the hall. Lonnie and Cady were married February 26, 1959, in the Salt Lake City Temple. This coming February will be their 55th wedding anniversary. Cady loved being a wife and mother. She filled our home with love and was always there to support those around her. Holidays were her favorite, and she never failed to make each one special and memorable. Cady made everyone who entered her home feel loved and welcome, and she freely gave to those who needed a helping hand. Cady worked as a hostess at the Tiffin Room in ZCMI, and at the Sears Tele-catalog Center for a short time. She also worked side-by-side with her husband and family, for 37 years, painting parking lots, schools, and roadways, as part of a family part-time business. While Cady had several different roles in her life, her favorite one was that of being a grandma. She developed a special bond with each and every grandchild, that will leave a lasting impact upon their lives. Cady was also a very good friend with Sally Clements Sheriff, and together they attended numerous sports activities, with their children, to support their husbands Lonnie and Larry. Cady is survived by her loving husband Lonnie D. Gleave, three children, and five grandchildren: Cathryn Gleave (Dave) Jones of Pleasant Grove, UT, John David (Corrin) Gleave of Springville, UT, and Susan Gleave (Jeff) Moore of Ivins, UT, and grandchildren: Keilani, McKenna, Quinn, Luke, and Nathan. Also surviving are brothers and sister: David (Geraldine) Oveson, Janet (Ray) Pickup, and Mark (Inger) Oveson. She was preceded in death by her youngest child Harvey L. Gleave. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday, January 23, from 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
