Charlotte Faye Leftwich Caley
March 8, 1941 - June 7, 2019
Charlotte Faye Leftwich Caley, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2019 at her home at Legacy Village of Provo, Utah, surrounded by her husband, David Tagg Caley, and their children. Charlotte was born on March 8, 1941 in Provo, Utah to Opal Tillie Haws Leftwich and Leonard Raymond Leftwich, and is the sixth of seven children. At the age of eleven years old, Charlotte met her brothers’ best friend and the person that would turn out to be the love of her life, David Tagg Caley. They married on August 30, 1956 in Provo, Utah when Charlotte was 15 years old (David, 21). They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity on December 22, 1961, at which time the two oldest of their four children (Tammra Dawn and Mindy Annette) were sealed to them. Charlotte had many talents and passions in life but the one she always said was her greatest accomplishment and was most proud of was her family. Life circled around each child and their activities; we all knew we could count on her and Tammy to be there cheering us on. She was so very proud of each of us and would boast about us to everyone; we probably need to apologize for this. One of Charlotte’s other passions, as dad would put it, was “to keep the economy going”. Mom loved building things, crafting, and most of all creating bracelets. While we liked to tease her about her economic skills and had many laughs with her about it, this turned out to be a wonderful thing for her as her health declined. Her eye for beauty and her skills for creating things helped her stay busy and it brought her great joy. She created many beautiful bracelets and left a legacy for those that have received them. In addition to having an eye and talent for creating beautiful things, she took pride in making certain she looked her best every day and taught her girls to do the same. Charlotte is survived by her husband, David Tagg Caley; 3 daughters, Mindy (Ed) Halladay, Crystal (Robert) Rowley, and Shelly Caley; her sons, Jeffrey Caley, and Douglas (Sara) Halladay; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mark Leftwich and Robert (Anne) Leftwich; 2 sisters-in-law, Patti Olson and Claudia Penrod; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Tammra Dawn (Douglas) Halladay, her parents, 3 brothers, Dean (Connie) Leftwich, Jack (Linda) Leftwich, and LaVern (Nancy) Leftwich, a sister, Bonita (Kayle) Brereton, and a sister-in-law, Jeanine Fulmer Leftwich. Charlotte loved each one of us with all her heart and made each feel that they were the favorite. She was loved by all that met her. On Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Charlotte's family will be holding a Celebration of Life (BBQ/ get together) to allow family and friends to come together to share stories and memories of Char.
