Cleonice Carvalho Hermansen returned to her Heavenly Father on October 30, 2017. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life, bright smile, and many friendships. Cleonice was born in Rio Claro, Sao Paulo, Brazil and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 11. She served a mission for the Church in Brazil before immigrating to the United States. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and taught school for 28 years, in Tooele, Jordan, and Salt Lake City School Districts. She also taught Spanish at the University of Utah. Cleonice loved languages and was fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and also conversant in Italian and French. She served in the Church’s translation department for 46 years, worked with many Apostles, and served multiple Church Service missions. She loved to travel, share time with family and friends, and serve others. Cleonice is survived by her husband Dan A. Hermansen, her 5 children, Erik (Maria) Ruf, Lisia (Spencer) Childs, David (Kami) Ruf, Rachael (Bennington) Willardson, and Emily (Matthew) Waldrup, 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. At her request, a Graveside Service will be held in her honor at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
