Clive Lyman Parcell Obituary (1941

Clive Lyman Parcell died peacefully at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, on February 7, 2025 at the age of 83. Clive was born on August 22, 1941 in Ogden, Utah to Elaine and Lyman Parcell. He married Linda Lee Allen in 1965. After 10 years in Rock Island, Illinois, Clive & Linda moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, where they made a home for almost 40 years. Clive worked for John Deere for more than 30 years– at Deere & Company headquarters in Moline, IL and the John Deere Ottumwa Works. As a plant engineer, he built good working relationships with colleagues across the factory (and not just because he brought dozens of cinnamon rolls to the office on his birthday every year.) Clive was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership roles over a lifetime of membership. He took special care overseeing the expansion and maintenance of the church building in Ottumwa. He served his community as a volunteer with the Ottumwa Symphony and local Master Gardeners, a member of the Hy-Noon Kiwanis Club, and as a member of the American Homefinding, Salvation Army, and Ottumwa Water Works boards. Clive was a gifted woodworker who built everything from home additions to furniture to his own trash compactor. He enjoyed being outside his entire life, whether skiing, cycling, sailing, or just walking the neighborhood. Clive is survived by his siblings Brenda Winegar and Lance Parcell; his children, Allen (Shelly) Parcell, Andrew (Erin) Parcell, Ashley Parcell, and Abby Parcell; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, his sister Joan Ashton, and his brother Michael Parcell. A viewing will be held Saturday, March 1 from 10 am -12 pm at Berg Mortuary (185 East Center Street, Provo, UT). A graveside service for family will be held at Provo City Cemetery at 12:30pm. Memorial donations may be made in Clive’s name to the Indian Hills Community College Foundation (525 Grandview Avenue Ottumwa, Iowa 52501)
