    Dale Miller

    June 10, 1931 - November 28, 2012

Ted Miller passed away with grace and dignity at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Despite his illness, he always managed to maintain a great attitude, put the needs of others before his own, and love and provide for his family. He did so with a great smile on his face, finding beauty, peace, and laughter every day. Ted was born on June 10, 1931 in Murray, Utah to Grover Charles Miller and Beulah Johnson Miller. He was raised in Provo until moving to Orem in 1948. Ted married the love of his life, Lois Elaine Prestwich on August 17, 1950 in the Manti Temple. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last August. They are the proud parents of six children. Ted graduated from Orem Lincoln High School and later attended Brigham Young University. He was a hard worker, and a successful entrepreneur and businessman. He was never afraid of new opportunities or adventures. One of his greatest joys in life was working hard to provide for his family. One of Ted's favorite mottos was, "You work hard, then you can play hard." He enjoyed life to its fullest by following this motto. Some of his favorite things were Christmas with the family, going to Disneyland, and vacationing in Hawaii. He loved fishing and hunting in the mountains, boating, and snowmobiling. Ted was always a big sports fan, and loved not only playing sports, but also loved coaching baseball, and attending BYU games. He will always be remembered for giving piggyback rides, wrestling with his grandchildren, and who could forget the John Wayne movies. He also loved playing the trumpet, and playing Rook and Risk with his family. But most of all, Ted loved dancing with his sweetheart, Lois. Ted was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony and loved serving in various callings and capacities in the Church. Some of these callings included serving in the scouting program, as well as serving as an Elders Quorum President, 1st Counselor in two Bishoprics, Stake High Counselor, and as a Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Lois Elaine Miller, and his children: Michael (Stacy) Miller; Greg (Shauna) Miller; Cindi (Steve) Smith; Rick (Teressa) Miller; Stefanie (Jamie) Craddock; Jenifer (Guy) Trowbridge; 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Ruth Thornton. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Lamar and Charles Miller. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and health care professionals who have helped him through all of these difficult years. A special thanks goes out to all those at Dixie Hospice and Maple Creek Hospice for all of your skillful, loving care. Thank you, Dad, for always being the perfect example of strength and compassion, and staying true to yourself clear to the end with your unique sense of humor, teaching us priceless lessons through your actions, even up to the end. We will miss you and love you forever. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Mortuary, Sunday evening, from 6-8 p.m., or Monday, one hour prior to services. Internment will be at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery. Condolences may be sent through his obituary at www.bergmortuary.com.
