Dan Clair Faux Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Surrounded by his loving family and following a long battle of heart disease, Dan Clair Faux age 85, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018, returning to the love of his life Sally, and loving Heavenly Father. Clair was born January 8, 1933 in Beaver, Utah to Ford and Ila Faux. He was the middle child of 3 children. He lived in Beaver for 12 years and then moved to Moroni, Utah in 1945. Clair excelled in sports; both baseball and basketball while attending high school. He graduated from Moroni High School in 1951. Clair attended Snow College and played baseball until he was drafted in 1952. His basic training was at Fort Lewis in Washington. He served 18 months in Germany. He was in the 48th AAA Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. After his service, he returned to Snow College and continued to play baseball. He then moved to Provo where he played semi-pro baseball with the Provo Timps in 1952 and then returned 1955-57. He was drafted to play with the Cincinnati Reds, but fell in love and married Sally Rosenlof from Mt. Pleasant, Utah on June 1, 1957. Clair and Sally have three children, Steven, Freddi Ann and Julie Ann. Clair worked at Geneva Steel for over 30 years as a crane operator. After he retired, he went to work as a bus driver for Provo School District for 12 more years, where he received many awards. After attending a funeral of a Veteran, he saw the American Legionnaires performing the Military rights. He said he had never seen such a beautiful sight in all his life. It was then he decided he wanted to be a part of this service and joined the Spanish Fork Post 68. There he had met some of the nicest guys and had made lasting friendships. He was so proud to be a member of Post 68. Baseball was a big part of Clair’s life. Clair and Sally enjoyed going to watch their grandson’s play baseball from t-ball to high school championship games. They never missed one even if they had to split their time. He enjoyed coaching one of his grandson’s teams for two years. Clair enjoyed attending clogging events, volleyball games, and piano recitals of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clair was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed home teaching to the many families and was ordained a High Priest. He is survived by his children: Steven C. Faux, Freddi Ann (Mark) Johnson and Julie Ann (Justin) Bliss; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Dave Faux; and sister, Adella Cottrell. Clair is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Faux; parents, Ford and Ila Faux; and in-laws, Harold and Revia Rosenlof. His family would like to give a special thank you to Encompass Hospice and his nurse Nancy Trappnell for all their help and kindness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Bonneville 13th Ward Chapel, 1498 East 800 South, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may visit with the family at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday March 4, 2018 from 6-8:00 pm. and at the church Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
