David Christian Hansen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend returned home to our Father in Heaven on Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was 78 years old. David was born to Mary Helen Novak and Oliver Edmond Hansen on June 30, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up there with his two younger siblings Martin and Mary. He was a dedicated husband and father, a Navy Veteran, an amazing salesman and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). David was married and sealed to Carol Nelson for time and all eternity, in the Los Angeles, CA Temple on September 4, 1963. David and Carol have 9 children, 25 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. They were sweethearts from the beginning, and happily married for 57 years. Most of their married life was spent in Provo and Orem, Utah and Huntington Beach and Lake Elsinore, California. Strategy games were a favorite pastime of David's, especially Chess, Scrabble, Monopoly and Risk. He loved trains, snowball fights, pinchy-fousty-flatty-cutty-cow-pokey, racquetball, Star Trek, cracking jokes, camping and playing outdoors, BYU Football, chocolate, spending time with family, enjoying a good BBQ, eating whole apples, peanut butter and pickles, pastrami sandwiches, Countrytime lemonade, flat root beer, black licorice, freshly baked brownies, and cinnamon gum. He was very passionate about serving others, taking care of the yard, and keeping his cars looking their very best. Most of David's career was in sales, and boy, was he good! He sold insurance, real estate, computer systems, and commercial pest control until he was 70 years old. He was known for being knowledgeable and honest, and his clients knew they could trust him. He and his wife always made sure that the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught in our home. He was a wonderful home teacher to many, always willing and ready to serve. He taught doctrinal classes, was Elders Quorum President, a Boy Scout Leader, Ward Mission Leader, a member of the Bishopric, High Priest Group Leader, and for the last 6 years he served on the High Council. He had a passion for genealogy, and served alongside his wife in the Family History Center for many years. Additionally, he was called as a temple worker in the San Diego, CA Temple, where he faithfully served from 2015-2020. David was faithful through and through, until the very end.
