Dennie Doreen Borland
August 27, 1939 - February 7, 2019
Dennie Doreen Borland, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona. Dennie was born on August 27, 1939 in Laramie, Wyoming to the late Raymond and Alice Latham. Her family moved to Federal Way, Washington where she graduated from Federal Way High. Dennie was a good student, a loyal daughter, and a wonderful friend. She was a cheerleader in high school, always enjoying attending and cheering at the games. Her favorite part of school was her sweetheart, Randall Kent Borland−whom she met in eighth grade−confidently confessing at that young age to her mother that she had seen the boy she would one day marry. Dennie and Randy graduated from Federal Way High in 1957 and always looked forward to the class reunions held every five years with the finest classmates anyone could hope for. They were married on April 2, 1958 and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 20, 1964. They lived in Federal Way, Washington; Salt Lake City, Orem, Charleston, and Midway, Utah; Mesa, Arizona; and Provo, Utah as they raised their eight children. She was a devoted wife and mother. She knew what was important in life, and had a loving and divine focus on her family. She knew how to have fun and stayed young with her enthusiastic appreciation of life and all it has to offer. Randy and Dennie served a full-time service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nepal from 2009 to 2011. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and lived a life of selfless service, bringing joy and laughter to everyone. She was kind, understanding, loving, and happy. She loved to laugh, at times uncontrollably, as she caught others up in her happiness. She loved playing games, reading, watching Hallmark movies, the beach, sunsets, eating truffles and hamburgers, and watching the sunrise from the Lido deck with her sweetheart. Her love for and faith in her Savior was tender and deep. She saw the good in everyone and everything. Above all else, she loved being with her family. Dennie was preceded in death by her oldest son, Kevin; her dear parents; and her brothers, Jim and Larry. She is survived by her husband, Randy; seven of their eight children, twenty-two grandchildren, and one great-grandson: Kyle and his children, Tabitha (Lars), Lucy (Dom), Kevin (Kinzie), and Joe; Kathleen & Stephen Captain and their children, Kelsey Lefrandt (Jason, and their son, Lucas), Christopher, and Sarah Benioni (Roman); David and his daughter, Maggie; Debra and David Wyler and their children, Ethan, Hannah, and Abby; Kimberly & Damon Delap and their children, Curtis, Tyler, Rachel, Michael, and Kate; Kristi & Spencer Ellingson and their daughters, Claire, Alice, Lanie, and Gwen; and Kameron & Kellie and their sons, Oliver and Henry. She will be dearly missed as she has brought so much light and pure joy into this life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Pleasant View 1st Ward Chapel, 650 East Stadium Ave., Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Friday, February 15, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be next to her dear son, Kevin, in Midway City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
