February 15, 1942 - December 17, 2020
Dennis Lloyd Lindshield passed away December 17, 2020 in Orem, Utah. He was born in Los Angeles, CA to Joseph Emanuel Lindshield and Maye Irene Nutt on February 15, 1942. His father worked at a creamery and his mother was a telephone operator. They soon moved to Escondido to take up farming, starting with turkey farming and moving to avocados and citrus. Dennis, an only child, was strongly encouraged by his parents to excel in school while they lived modestly and invested in farm land that was to be sold as necessary to provide for his education. Dennis achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and was in graduate school at University of Redlands when his father died at age 58. Dennis returned to the farm to take care of it and his mother. He married Arlita Throssel on February 1, 1969. Both had been previously married. He assisted in raising her two children, Laura and Marc and adopted them after they turned 18. Dennis was a champion of Alcoholics Anonymous which he joined in about 1972. He helped many friends achieve sobriety and he greatly valued his own. Dennis and Arlita volunteered in may capacities over the years in helping others and extending compassionate care to those with addictions and mental health challenges. Dennis and family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975 and were richly blessed by the gospel as well as the association of many wonderful friends over the years. Dennis and Arlita enjoyed many years of world travel which was their passion in life. Dennis always felt great peace and joy in nature and while enjoying the fruits of his labors on the farm. He enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories with the grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by Laura Munson, Marc Lindshield, six grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29 at the Oak Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 2640 Glenridge Road, Escondido, CA 92027. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
