    Edith Anne Schaelling Meibos

    February 11, 1934 - August 31, 2018

Edith Anne Schaelling Meibos, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018. Edith Anne, second child of Francis Warren Schaelling and Ada Walker Ward, was born February 11, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her siblings include Charles Francis (Jeanine) Schaelling, Joseph Ward Schaelling, deceased (Susan); John Philip Schaelling (Colleen), and Sylvia Bischoff (Michael). She was a 1952 graduate of Granite High School, where she was the year book editor. Her editorial skills continued with witty annual family holiday letters and a newspaper column for a weekly suburban newspaper in Littleton, Colorado. She also attended BYU where she met her husband and earned a PHT (Put Hubby Through). Married on June 4, 1954 to Robert B Meibos, she became the parent of Gretchen Ludlow (Allen), Robert Bruce Jr (Cheryl), Karen Ada Little (Bud), Emily Van Wagenen (Rod), Mary Anne Gurr (Tim), John Daniel (Corin), David Warren (Melissa) and Sarah Nancy Ward (Aaron). Her posterity is her proudest accomplishment and includes 36 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Always a faithful Latter-day Saint, Edith Anne served in many and varied church assignments in Montana, Texas, Colorado, and Salt Lake City and Provo, UT. She served as Stake and Ward Relief Society President, Stake and Ward Primary Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Seminary Teacher, and Temple Worker at the Provo, Utah Temple. With her husband she served a mission to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she helped establish an employment office. They also held an MTC calling and served a mission at the Provo Deseret Industries teaching ESL and employment skills. Edith’s family will miss her candor, her snappy remarks, her doctrinal insights, and her gentle wit; her skillful distribution of advice, especially on the subjects of health and employment and her shopping, copious reading, cooking and haircutting skills and the way she remembered every birthday. She was an example of service to many and love for all. A viewing will be held at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018 and on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Pleasant View 7th Ward, 2445 North 650 East (Timpview Drive), Provo, Utah from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services.
