Elaine Robison Scott
November 16, 1929 - November 28, 2021
Dora Elaine Robison was born in Fillmore, Utah to Albert and Dora Carling Robison on November 16, 1929. Elaine lived in Fillmore, Utah, until her family moved to Provo in her early teen years. It was in Provo she met and married her sweetheart Vernon Lamar Scott. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1950. Elaine and Vernon had 4 children: Roseanne, Kay, David, and Harold (Lorie). She has 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon (Scotty). He passed away on Dec 13, 1995. After graduating high school and waiting for Vernon to return home from his mission, Elaine worked as a receptionist in a local doctor office in Provo, Utah. After her children had started school, Elaine went to work at Utah Valley Hospital as a secretary in the storeroom and purchasing department. After retiring from the hospital, Elaine decided she wanted to spend some time serving the hospital patrons as a Pink Lady. She loved talking with people and enjoyed helping them get to where they needed to go. Elaine was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many calling throughout her life. Her favorite was working with the Young Women and being a Visiting Teacher to the women in her ward. Elaine enjoyed reading and genealogy. Family was very important to her, she had 11 siblings and was the glue that kept them all together. She kept her siblings and their families informed and connect to each other throughout her life. Elaine had a keen mind for family connections. If you had question about anyone in the genealogical line, she could readily answer the question and then tell you a story regarding that person or their family or their family history. This is a gift she not only used within her family but shared with all those she met. No matter where she we went, she could always find a relative or some type of connection to those she spoke to. She used this gift until the last days of her life. As she talked with her hospice care team, she found connections to them within her friends and family members. Even at the end she was trying help her nurse find her own genealogical lines. After living in Vermont for a year, she and Vernon purchased a home on the West side of Provo on August 1, 1960. Elaine spent 55 happy years in that house. Elaine was adamant that the house in Provo was it, she was never moving again. However, life has unexpected turns and she ended up moving to the Legacy House of Taylorsville assisted living in July of 2015. While in Legacy House she used her natural love of people to make friends. She was the one women welcoming committee. She helped people feel comfortable and accepted in their new surroundings. Often showing them around, taking them to events, and introducing them to others. Elaine was in-tune with Heavenly Father and always had promptings as to when someone new needed a little extra care and comfort. Elaine’s love of people allowed her to create many friends at Legacy House with both staff and residents. If anyone ever needed to talk or needed help, she had wiling ears and hands. Elaine was definitely a people person she was happiest when helping others. We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of those at Legacy House of Taylorsville who loved and cared for Elaine, many of the staff have become family friends. We would also like to thank the Inspiration Hospice care team for their patient, kind, and loving assistance during Elaine’s last few weeks. Elaine will be missed by all who knew her. We will miss her tenacity, inquiring spirit, and the love she showed to her many friends and family. We will also miss her ability to find friends and family connections with whomever she met. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Lakeside 8th Ward Chapel, 131 South 1600 West, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
