Elena Lara de Pacheco

September 9, 1961 - January 6, 2021

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Elena Lara de Pacheco passed away on January 6, 2021 after a long battle with gastric cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in her home located in Orem, UT. She was born on September 9, 1961, in Lima, Peru. Elena was the youngest of seven children to Sulpicio Lara and Catalina Perez. Elena courageously fought gastric cancer from the beginning of her diagnosis in August 2016. Elena met the love of her life, Sgt. Victor Pacheco at a Birthday Party in San Juan de Lurigancho – Lima, Peru. They dated for ten years before they decided to get married on June 6, 1984. Victor and Elena settled in Talara, Piura where Victor was stationed until their first child, Victor Ronald, was born in 1984. They moved back to Lima, Peru in 1987 and welcomed two more sons Gustavo and Victor Brian to the family. Elena was an amazing cook, especially Peruvian-style home cooking. She was dedicated to making the best meals all her sons and grandsons enjoyed the most. She was famous for Ceviche, Aji de Gallina, and Tallarines Verdes. It was often requested by her grandkids for second plates. Elena was a skilled homemaker and dedicated to building a comfortable, humble, and inviting home where family and friends were always welcome. Elena was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received her temple endowment in August 2020. Elena is survived by her husband Victor Pacheco, her sons Victor Ronald, Gustavo, Victor Brian, and daughter-in-law Christi Pacheco. She is also survived by her grandsons Ronaldo, Brayden, Tiago, Mateo, and Oliver. Elena was adored by her children and grandchildren and was lovingly referred to as “Nana”. We will always remember Sunday dinners, birthday parties, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve at grandma’s house. A private funeral service was held on Monday, January 11, 2021.
