Elma Terry Mack Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elma Terry Mack, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, completed her earthly journey surrounded by her loved ones on March 5, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born September 19, 1926 in Delta, Utah to David and Stella Iverson Terry. She married Lloyd E. Mack on June 14, 1948 in Delta, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They shared 53 wonderful years together before Lloyd passed away in 2001. They were the parents of one son and two daughters; Robert, Allison and Karen. Elma was an exceptional musician, playing the piano, organ, clarinet, oboe, drums and marimba. While in high school, she studied with the world-renowned pianist, Grant Johannesen, at the McCune School of Music and Art. Elma graduated from Delta High School in 1944 with a scholarship to Brigham Young University. She studied at the LDS Business College, and later graduated from Brigham Young University in 1948. Elma began her teaching career at the Central Utah Vocational School where she taught business education. During her years teaching at Utah Valley Community College, she was three-times named “Teacher of the Year,” honored with an “Excellence in Teaching” award and named “Who’s Who in Education.” She also wrote manuals for Word Perfect and the Olympia electronic typewriter. Elma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Primary, Relief Society, Genealogical Data Center, scouting program and as the ward organist. Elma and Lloyd loved to travel. Whether by car, motorhome, boat, train or plane, they traveled the world over, visiting 18 countries, and every state in the nation. Elma was a highly respected, talented and accomplished woman. She was warm, loving, kind, generous, and deeply devoted to her ever-growing family. They were her greatest joy. She is survived by her three children, Robert (Becky) Mack, Allison Mack, and Karen (Mark) Gubler; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Mack, her parents, brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center Street. Friends and family may call at the mortuary Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:50 a.m. Interment, East Lawn Memorial Hills.
