    Freya Raiden Gaul Larsen

    October 26, 1991 - May 7, 2019

Our beloved daughter, sister, and best friend, Freya Raiden Gaul Larsen, unexpectedly and tragically returned to the loving arms of her grandparents and our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019. Freya entered this world on October 26, 1991. When Freya was born, we looked into her huge, beautiful eyes and knew she was a strong, passionate soul, so we named her after the Norse goddess of love and beauty. This name suited her well. From a young age, Freya was filled with creativity, and a deep love for her siblings and nature. As a child she spent her days dancing in the woods of Minnesota in a fairy costume, caring for a never-ending assortment of stray animals she collected and cared for, drawing romantic stories, and reading fairy tales. When she was a teenager we moved to Utah, where she attended Orem High School and graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Freya was very smart and perceptive. She had a kooky sense of humor, and the ability to see through people and hypocrisy. She was fun spirited and adventuresome. She loved hiking in the mountains, where she felt closest to the Spirit. She was fiercely independent. Though she rescued many people, she rarely accepted help. As she got older, she dedicated her life to working with the disabled, at risk youth, and the mentally ill at Mesa Vista Care Center, the Utah State Hospital on the Forensics Unit, and as caseworker for the Department of Child Services helping teenage foster children. She rescued several of her friends from domestic violence. Freya was fearless. She saw the good in violent, mentally ill people, and felt she could handle anything. Her last day on earth, she testified in court for one of the foster children she loved and had rescued from a violent attack. Her dream was to work for Operation Underground Railroad rescuing victims of human trafficking. She wanted to adopt foster children, and open a wonderful home for disabled people. Our hearts are shattered. The world lost a great warrior for justice. We cannot imagine life without our beloved Freya, who always challenged us to be better, love deeper, and protect the innocent. Freya is survived by her father, Jim; mother, Raiden; brothers, Hans, Reinhard, and Gunnar; sisters, Thora and Vedana; and sister-in-law, Kristin, who she loved deeply. She had many wonderful times with her family, Jordan−who she was married to briefly−and her best friends, Jordan K., Kristen C., and Ashley. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Fran and Ellie. We pray she can help Heavenly Father’s work as an angel, protecting lost souls who do not have a voice on the other side of the veil. Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Provo 5th Ward Chapel, 195 South 100 East, Provo, Utah. Freya wanted to be cremated, and her ashes buried with a tree. She will rest on the side of the mountain overlooking Utah Valley at Eastlawn Memorial Hills cemetery until we can be reunited as a family. The funds that were so generously given to a Go Fund Me account will be donated to Operation Underground Railroad in her honor. We will always be grateful for and treasure any memories you can write about our beloved Freya online at www.bergmortuary.com or at https://app.gratbook.com/book/freya-gaul-life. We will always be so grateful for the brief time got to share with strong, beautiful, passionate, and loving Freya on this earth. The world is a better place because she lived.
