Garna Barber Obituary (1917

Our dear mother left this earthly life Tuesday, May 4th 2010, at the age of 93. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grand-children, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends to whom she was a wonderful example. She was born in Tropic, UT, March 3rd 1917, to William Robert Lloyd (Bob) and Susa Ellen Jolley (Suz). She was the fourth daughter of six siblings, Delphia Lee (Joe), Lena Banks (Ike), Thelda Van Otten (Ralph) Ellen Andersen (Rex) and Lucille Miller (Pete). She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married her sweetheart Byron F. Barber January 19, 1935. They lived the first few years of their marriage in Los Angeles, CA then moved to Provo and raised their three children. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a home maker and totally supported her husband and children in their work and activities. She attended school in Tropic, Provo and Orem, UT. She was a “people person” and enjoyed her employment at Kiddie-Ville and Hayward Co. (women’s ready to wear) until her retirement. Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They loved traveling in their RV with friends and family for fifteen years. She always had fun being in the outdoors, fishing, boating and camping. She was a wonderful cook and nobody left her home hungry. Mother is survived by her daughters, Colleen Burrows (Ervin) American Fork UT and Kay Aase (Mons) Murray UT, and daughter-in-law Georgia Barber, Las Vegas NV, sisters, Ellen Andersen and Lucille Miller, grandchildren, Ken B. Burrows (Laurie) Joni Kaye Burrows, Sherry Lund (Dean), Clark D. Barber (Justine), Marcia Harrison (Steve), step-grandchildren, Joe Carter (Jane), Wade Carter, Monty Carter, Julie Brown (Charles), Danica Aase, Danae Probasco (Brad), Ten grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren, Fifteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son (Douglas) and her husband. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel of Provo, 185 East Center Street.
