Gerald "Gary" Lowell Christiansen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On June 24, 2022, Gerald (Gary) Lowell Christiansen peacefully and unexpectedly returned to his Father in Heaven from his home in Lehi, Utah. He is loved by his wife, Rosemary, and children David [Deceased] and (Susan and her husband Wayne), Nathan and (Ginni), Chris and (Christine), Deborah and (Dana), Diana and (Jonathan), Mark and (Celeste), John, Seth and (Talisha) and 26 grandchildren with one granddaughter-in-law. He was preceded in death by parents Lowell and Ruth, and son David. He was born to Lowell G and Ruth Tyler Christiansen on October 26, 1946, at his Aunt Doris Pitcher's home in Cornish, Utah. He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho with his four sisters Peggy and (Boyd) Sorenson, Cheryl Nielsen, Patti and (Ray) Griffin, Colleen and (Robert) Thomas. He served a mission to the Central Atlantic States for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1965 to 1967. On April 8, 1971, he married his sweetheart Rosemary Walker for time and eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. He served in both the Idaho and Utah National Guard, being honorably discharged from both. While serving in the Utah National Guard, he survived a rock slide off a twenty-foot cliff in 1974 and was hospitalized for three months as he recovered. He graduated from BYU on August 15, 1975, with a bachelor's of art in History. He worked and retired from the Family History department for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved helping with the development of Ancestral File and its predecessors. A lifelong Boy Scout, he loved camping, dutch oven cooking, whittling, skits, rowdy camp songs, drawing, rock hounding, serving as a Scoutmaster, and training others to serve. He helped pioneer the Varsity Scout program. He was a Woodbadge Eagle and Bear patrol member. He was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1994. Throughout his life, he enjoyed serving in many capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife served in the New Jersey Morristown Mission from 2011 to 2013 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as church service missions at the Orem Family History Training Center and at the Lehi Family Search Center. He was an active missionary when he passed away. He and his teasing will be missed by many for years to come. As Gary loved to share…Kwitchurbelyakn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Lehi 15th Ward Chapel, 1920 North 500 West, Lehi, Utah. Friends may call at the church Tuesday, June 28 from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Moreland Cemetery, 878 West 200 North (Northwest of Moreland on Parks Road), Blackfoot, Idaho.
