    Gustave Barnett Dewey

    December 18, 1925 - June 17, 2014

Gustave Barnett Dewey died peacefully at home on June 17, 2014 of natural causes. He was surrounded by all of his immediate family; wife, Bonnie Ercanbrack; son, Dr. Steven (Emily) Dewey; and daughters, Cheryl Dewey, Ellen (Russ) Jensen and Karen (Jim) Hunsaker. Gus was deeply loved by all of us. Gus was born in Richfield, Utah, December 18, 1925 to Dr. H. Asa and Marvel Blomquist Dewey. His older brother Richard was killed in a car accident at the age of 8. Gus left home at the age of 18, joining the Army. He was with the Pacific Invasion Force, landing in the second wave on the Island of Okinawa. He served overseas for 19 months and was honorably discharged at the end of WWII in October 1946. Gus married Bonnie Ercanbrack in 1953. He was a mechanical engineer working at U.S. Geneva Steel, Geneva Works and finally at Utah Valley University in Orem. He was a quiet, humble man who served his family and country his whole life. His legacy is and will be his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Pleasant View 1st Ward Chapel, 650 East Stadium Avenue, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com.
