Ilyn David Garrick was born September 12, 1934 to Morrison Hamilton Garrick and Zelma Hoffman Garrick in Provo Utah. Believing that he was going to be a girl, his parents had chosen Eileen. Upon receiving a boy they chose the unique name Ilyn (eye-lynne). Having lived in 13 places in 14 years, Ilyn finally settled in Provo Utah where he graduated from Provo High School, attended BYU with an emphasis on Geology and married Janet Kenner Garrick (deceased). Ilyn and Janet had seven children together, Catherine Lynne Tooke- Whittaker, David Glenn Garrick (deceased), Lisa Ann Holladay, Craig Kenner Garrick (deceased), Gina Lee Cox, Michelle Kaufusi, and Richard Morrison Garrick. Ilyn and Janet were divorced in 1978. Ilyn married Nancy Garrick on October 15, 1979. They resided in Orem, Utah and were married for 33 years after divorcing in June of 2013. Ilyn worked in various fields but spent most of his career working for U.S. Steel and as a stone mason. His final career was with Horrocks Engineering where he worked in a Civil Engineering role. Ilyn was a hard worker and had a strong sense of exactness. He took great pride in his children and their accomplishments. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and boating in southern Utah. He had a passion for geology and aviation. He is survived by 1 sibling Dr. John B. Garrick and 5 children, Catherine Lynne Whittaker, Lisa Holladay, Gina Lee Cox, Michelle Kaufusi, and Richard Morrison Garrick. Ilyn had 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary from 1-1:50 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent through his obituary at www.bergmortuary.com.
