    James Edmond "Ed" Stewart

    September 11, 1930 - June 13, 2019

James Edmond Stewart “Ed” passed away at his Orem home on June 13, 2019, at the age of 88. Ed was born on September 11, 1930 in Fairview, Utah to Ora and Louie Stewart. He graduated from North Sanpete High School and attended Snow College prior to his military service. Ed loved his country and served as a Sergeant in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Upon his return he accepted a call as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Uruguay Mission where he faithfully served for 2 ½ years. After many years of service, Ed returned to Utah to continue his education. While in Provo, he met and fell in love with Colleen Peterson. Ed and Colleen were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 20, 1957. Upon completing his degree in accounting from Brigham Young University, he began his professional career as a CPA. Ed practiced with his friend and business partner Sidney Gilbert in Provo, Utah for over 50 years. He loved his profession and never really retired because of the relationships he created with his life-long clients. He was respected for his honesty, integrity, and loyalty. Ed and Colleen made their home in Orem. Together they had 4 children, Julie Anderson (Clay- deceased), Lindon, Utah; Shari Cheney (Robert), Layton, Utah; Cindy Smith (Lorin), Herriman, Utah; Ron Stewart (Becky), Pleasant Grove, Utah. His children admire and look up to their father for his unwavering love and support throughout their lives. Ed loved strawberry ice cream, lemon pie, Miracle Whip, and do-it-yourself projects. He was kind, loving, and fiercely loyal to his family. He was a faithful member of The Church and loved to share his strong testimony of the Savior with his family. Throughout his life he had the opportunity to serve in many church positions. He is survived by Colleen, his loving wife of 62 years, his four children, seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, his sister, Renee Sanders (Robert), and brother-in-law, Jack Peterson (Linda). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest 6th Ward Chapel, 1035 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. Friends and family are invited to a viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, and also Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
