June 21, 1919 - November 27, 2014
June Barton Bartholomew, 95, passed away November 27, 2014 in Provo, Utah. She was born June 21, 1919 in Mount Pleasant, Utah to Henry Lawrence and Marie Musig Barton. She had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Five of the nine children lived into adulthood. They were a hard-working loving family. Their lives revolved around the schools and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. June attended BYU on a music scholarship, playing violin in the symphony orchestra, and graduated in 1940. She taught third and fourth grades at Hamilton Elementary School in Mount Pleasant. She married Calvin H. Bartholomew Sr. on December 20, 1941 in the Manti LDS Temple. She devoted herself to raising and caring for a large family. As her older children neared mission age she taught ESL at UVU and remedial reading at Timpanogos Elementary, Sunset View Elementary and Farrer Jr. High in Provo, and American Fork Junior High. With her husband she served two missions--the first one at the Joseph Smith Memorial in Vermont and in Connecticut where they created a genealogical center. Their second mission was a family history mission in Germany where Calvin passed away in 1991. June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 8 siblings and one grandchild. She is survived by 5 sons and 3 daughters: Calvin H. Bartholomew Jr. (Karen); Daniel Ray Bartholomew (Sherlene); Jean Larsen (Richard); Joann Tanner (Roy); Robert Lawrence Bartholomew (Rita); Ralph Barton Bartholomew (Linda); Reid Allan Bartholomew; Carol Marie Routt (Terry); 34 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. June was always active in the LDS Church as a teacher or counselor. She had many music callings, especially as a chorister. She was very involved in family history and compiled two family history books-one for her dad's side and one for her mom's. She had a firm testimony of the truths of the Church. All of her life she showed how important it was to her by always being active and promoting every good cause of the Church. In June’s words, her children and grandchildren have been the shining stars of her life and her most important blessing and achievement. Each was loved unconditionally and eternally. Thank you to the care-givers and the Hospice nurses and to Cove Point, who helped June through the last stage of her life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bonneville Stake Center, 85 South 900 East, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah on Friday evening from 6 until 8 and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:45. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
