Kenneth Verl Barnum
July 26, 1950 - September 7, 2021
Kenneth Verl Barnum, born July 26, 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at the age of 71 in Provo, Utah on September 7, 2021 at approximately 9 am. In his early career, Ken served in the Army's 82nd Infantry as a Lieutenant. From there, he had a successful career in marketing that took him all over the world with focus areas in Tokyo, Japan and later in London, England. Feeling that he wanted to reconnect and help veterans, Ken completed a Masters in Social Work from Catholic University in May 2008 and joined the Veteran Administration as a Social Worker helping homeless veterans in the Washington D.C. area until moving to Provo in late 2020. Those blessed by association with Ken know his wry sense of humor, realism mixed with insight, and gentle influence. He loved golf, helping others, and reading. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharron, and three children Eric, Anne, and Sara along with their spouses and many adoring grandchildren. Ken is also survived by two siblings, Vernon Barnum of Las Vegas, NV and Verlene Wiley of West Jordan, UT. Instead of donating flowers, please consider making a donation in Ken’s name to The Friendship Place at friendshipplace.org, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness. A memorial service to honor Ken will be held October 3, 2021 at 5 pm MST/7 pm EST via Zoom. Please expect that the children will coordinate details leading up to the service. To gain an invite to the memorial, please reach out to one of the children by email, Facebook Messenger, cell phone, or text. Invites to the memorial will be sent out in the days leading up to October 3rd so please provide your email address. Thank you. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
