Kisi Clawson Watkins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Allyson Clawson Watkins, who went by Kisi her entire life, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, from complications related to cancer. Kisi was born March 10, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard and Dorothy Clawson. As a kid, she loved fishing and outdoor adventures with her older brother, Jeff. Kisi graduated from Hillcrest High School and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Upstate New York. A whiz at math and languages, she obtained degrees from the University of Utah in mathematics and German/linguistics and from Brigham Young University in math education. She taught math at the high school and college levels and even taught inmates at the Utah State Prison for the U of U’s Continuing Education program. Kisi married Joe Watkins in 1978. Eleven years later, they finally had Katie, the child they had always wanted. Though Kisi and Joe divorced, they remained close and consider each other family. After retiring from teaching math to raise Katie, Kisi developed a passion for emergency preparedness, healthy living, and healing. She and her friend Sandy White started a grassroots organization called 3Steps with the purpose of helping neighborhoods, communities, and cities prepare effectively for disasters. Kisi became a Craniosacral Therapist and Foot Zoner and used her skills to both build her own practice and teach others. She inspired many people to embark on their own healing journeys. Kisi had many close friends, whom she loved dearly, and she cared greatly about helping people feel valued and loved. She made it her mission to meet and welcome each new person who moved into her neighborhood. She had a remarkable ability to stay connected to friends from every era of her life, maintaining contact through lunches, phone calls, emails, and her annual Christmas letter. If you knew Kisi and are reading this, we would like you to know that she remembers and loves you, no matter how long ago you knew her. Kisi is survived by her daughter Katie Watkins (Tyler Hopkins); her brother Jeff Clawson (Aurora); her nieces, nephews, and other family members; and the many dear friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as several beloved aunts and uncles. We would like to thank the many people who supported us over the months she was sick, including family, friends, neighbors, and the wonderful medical staff who helped care for her. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Thursday, October 7, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Friday, from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
