Lola "Crickett" Christine Morris Nelson Obituary (1935

On the evening of April 9, 2016, Crickett, 81, passed away in her home in Provo, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Dixie, Mississippi on February 18, 1935 to Jewel Venera Harvison Morris and Wilford Robert Morris Sr. She spent her younger years in Southern Mississippi and Dallas, TX, later attending BYU and moving to Provo, UT, where she married and had a family. She married Merrill William Nelson on June 12, 1955 in Salt Lake City, and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Crickett had a deep love for family— and golf. She served in the USWGA presidency for 26 years, won medals and trophies, and spread her love of the sport to anyone who was willing. When she wasn't at the golf course, she was the homemaker, taking care of her three children and loving husband. Crickett is preceded in death by her husband, Merrill William Nelson; parents, Jewel and Wilford Morris; two siblings, Edna Mary Wach (Bill) and "Pete" Wilford Robert Morris; daughter, Lori Christine and son, Kelly William Nelson. She is survived by her brother "Pug" Jasper Noel Morris (Maxine); loving sons, Robert Douglas Nelson (Sue) and Richard Milton Nelson (Katey); devoted daughter, Leeza Crickett Nelson Ridd; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family thanks all of her neighbors and close friends that helped her in her time of need. A special thank you goes out to Myron Morgan for all his years of watching out for her and helping her when she needed it. She will be missed greatly by many as a loving wife, mother, sister, friend and the best Gram a child could imagine. She finally got her wings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to services. Crickett will be laid to rest in the Provo City Cemetery.
