Lydia Shaw Obituary (1928

Ava Billings Shaw, 82, finally returned home February 10, 2011. She was born July 1, 1928, to Claude D. and Lydia W. Billings near Scipio, UT. Youngest daughter of ten children, Ava grew up in Springville, and Provo, graduating from Provo High. She married June L. Shaw of Rupert, ID in the Salt Lake Temple December 3, 1947. Ava had a deep love for children and was a mentor and champion not only for her five children, but also to those she served as grandmother, neighbor, friend, and in her church. With June and her children, they opened their hearts and home to sixty foster children while they lived in Escondido, CA. Ava generously shared her beautiful voice and piano music, gifts from the kitchen, garden and lovely needlework. She is survived by her children, Linda June, Randy (Joan), Wayne (Sherri), Dallas (Julie), and Rebecca Shaw, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as her brothers, Alonzo C. Billings, Melvin D. Billings (Joann), and her sister-in-law, Wilma Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband, June, parents and siblings Claudia Sutherland, Mary Strong, Lenora Hendricks, Evan Billings, Elva Ashcraft, Nelda Craine, and Mae Christensen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday evening from 6 until 8 and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East, Sandy, Utah.
