Martin Elizarraras, de 79 años de edad, de Orem, Utah, falleció el Miércoles 2 de Septiembre del 2020, despues de una valiente pelea contra COVID-19 en el Utah Valley Regional Medical Center en Provo, Utah. Martín nació el 1 de Febrero de 1941 en Sarabia, Villagrán, Guanajuato, México, hijo de José Elizarraras y Julia Cano. Martin trabajó duro toda su vida. A la temprana edad de 7 años, comenzó a trabajar en la granja familiar y pastoreando cabras. Más tarde dedicó su vida a trabajar en la construcción como albañil y no se jubiló por completo hasta los 70 años en 2011. Era uno de los hombres más trabajadores que cualquiera de nosotros conocía y, al mismo tiempo, también era uno de los más trabajadores, cariñoso y humilde. Conoció y le robó la mano a Amalia Arce en 1958, y juntos formaron su familia en Santa Rita, Salamanca, Guanajuato, México. Se mudaron de Santa Rita a Tepic, Nayarit, México en 1973, donde Martín y Amalia criaron una gran familia de nueve hijos. En 1992, siguieron sus sueños y se mudaron de México a Estados Unidos. La cuidad de Provo, Utah, se convirtió en un nuevo hogar para comenzar a criar a la nueva generación de la familia Elizarraras y Martin estaba muy orgulloso de ser Ciudadano Estadounidense. Martin era un jardinero ávido y le encantaba cuidar el jardín y todas las cosas de su hogar. Su casa estaba adornada con hermosas flores que le gustaba cuidar; algunos de los cuales incluían sus girasoles favoritos. La mayoría de las mañanas y las noches lo podías encontrar afuera con la manguera, regando con la mano el pasto y las flores, ya que disfrutaba cuidarlos especialmente mientras observaba a los pájaros reunirse y comer las semillas caídas de sus girasoles. Siempre tuvo un enorme jardín lleno de verduras y le encantaba compartir los frutos de su trabajo con toda la familia. Cuando visitaban al abuelo, siempre estaba seguro de irse con una bolsa de productos frescos, cultivados con amor. Martin era un gran cocinero y le encantaba alimentar a su familia, amigos, y vecinos. En cualquier reunión, puede contar con que Martin estaba en la parrilla preparando el favorito de todos, la carne asada. Martin siempre supo exactamente cómo todos disfrutaban su carne asada y se enorgullecía de asegurarse de que todos la comieran a su gusto. Martin era muy sociable y le encantaba hablar con la gente. Martin Elizarraras, age 79, of Orem, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, after a valiant fight against COVID-19 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Martin was born February 1, 1941, in Sarabia, Villagrán, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Jose Elizarraras and Julia Cano. Martin worked hard his entire life. At the young age of 7, he began working on the family farm and herding goats. He later dedicated his life to working construction as a mason and did not fully retire until the age of 70 in 2011. He was one of the hardest working men that any of us knew, and at the same time, was also one of the most caring and humble. He met and stole the hand of Amalia Arce in 1958, and together they began their family in Santa Rita, Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico. They moved from Santa Rita to Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico in 1973, where Martin and Amalia raised a large family of nine children. In 1992, they followed their dreams and moved from Mexico to the United States. Provo, Utah became a new home to begin raising the new generation of the Elizarraras family and Martin was very proud to be a U.S. Citizen. Martin was an avid gardener, and loved taking care of the yard, and all things around the house. His home was adorned with beautiful flowers that he enjoyed caring for, including his favorite sunflowers. Most mornings and evenings you could find him outside with the hose, hand watering the grass and flowers, as he enjoyed taking special care of them while watching the birds gather and eat the fallen seeds from his sunflowers. He always had a huge garden full of veggies and loved to share the fruits of his labor with the entire family. When visiting grandpa, you were always sure to leave with a bag of fresh produce, grown with love. Martin was a great cook and loved feeding his family, friends and neighbors. At any gathering, you could count on Martin to be at the grill preparing everyone’s favorite, carne asada. Martin always knew exactly how everyone enjoyed their carne asada, and took pride in making sure everyone got it just their way. Martin was very social and loved talking with people. He could carry a conversation for hours and loved hearing others’ stories, and also loved sharing his story with them. Above all, Martin loved his children and their families. His favorite times were when they all got together for a meal or party. It wasn’t hard for him to find a reason to celebrate, because that meant that everyone would be together. Martin was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Orem. Martin found comfort in his Rosary, and while he did not attend Mass regularly, he had a special relationship with God and loved personal prayer. Martin is preceded in death by his parents, two baby boys, and 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amalia; 2 sisters Refugia and Socorro; 9 children, Soledad (Raul), Jose (Socorro), Florentina (Vicente), Alicia (Victor), Maribel (Leonel), Mario (Norma), Julia (Juan), Cesar (Angelica), and Rocio; 33 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. A private service for family will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Berg Mortuary in Orem, Utah. He will be laid to rest at the City of Orem Cemetery in Orem, Utah.
