Mary Dolores Emelda Dominguez Haws (Dollie)
December 29, 1940 - February 1, 2020
Mary Dolores Emelda Dominguez Haws (Dollie) returned to her Heavenly Father on February 1, 2020. She was born December 29, 1940 in Del Norte, Colorado, but lived most of her life in the Provo and Orem area. She was known for always being busy: working, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her family and neighbors. She worked at Geneva Steel for 29 years, then went on to work for the Alpine School District, Walmart, and the NPS Store. Dollie was always taking care of her family. Her home was the place they all gathered. She was the sole provider for her two children and played a big role in helping raise her four grandkids and two great-granddaughters. She loved them all unconditionally. Dollie’s faith in and dedication to our Heavenly Father were without measure. She prayed her Rosary every day, and at three o’clock you could hear her alarm go off and no matter what was going on, it was on hold until she was done with her prayer. She had a gift for establishing relationships with anyone who crossed her path. She made people feel so loved – to know her was to love her. She was known for her beautiful hair, contagious laugh, and healing hands. She was never afraid to tell someone the truth, and she had the perfect mix of stubbornness, feistiness, and gentleness. She taught her family to be kind and gentle, but also how to be strong and independent. The service she gave to her family members taught them so much: how to pray, how to make room for everyone, how to be efficient, how to be respectful, how to appreciate the little things, to forgive and love one another unconditionally. Her favorite color was lavender. She loved the smell of roses and lavender. When she wasn’t praying, working or cooking for her family, she was doing crossword puzzles, playing electronic Yahtzee, or watching Golden Girls and crime shows. Dollie was caring, compassionate, forgiving, understanding, nurturing, and selfless. She loved with all her heart! She always let her family know how proud she was of them. She will be so deeply missed, from her smile, her laugh, the warmth of her hands, and her healing touch to her beautiful hair and all her feistiness. But we know she’ll continue watching over us and keeping us close. Dollie is survived by her children, Chad Haws and Donna (Don) Ewin; her siblings, Johnny Dominguez, Dorothy Majors, Roger Dominguez, LaRaine Wilkinson, Juanita Stenson, Pat Dominguez, and Sandie Robbs; her grandchildren, Sara (Jason) Galovich, Alicia Baker (Jason Fewkes), Michael Haws, and Austin Haws; her great-granddaughters, NaTeisha Ewin (Austin Kline) and Nevaeh Fewkes, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Rudy Dominguez; her siblings, Frank Dominguez, Eleanor Jackson, Billy Dominguez, and Robert Dominguez, and her granddaughter, Colleen Ewin.
