Maryem K. Distefano Fett Obituary (1949

Maryem K. Distefano Fett passed away December 29, 2013 due to complications of COPD and several other physical problems. She was born November 16, 1949 to William L. and MaryEileen Dockstader Distefano in Provo, Utah. She attended schools in the Provo School District and graduated from Provo High School in 1968. She married Karl Burrows of Provo, Utah and had two children, Timothy K. and Linda Michelle. They later divorced. She married Don Martin from Ogden, Utah and had one daughter, Katie Ann. They later divorced. On July 23, 1990, she married her current husband, Barry M. Fett of Provo where they have resided for 23 years. Together they raised two of their grandchildren, Dakota and Missouri Burrows. As well as being a housewife, mother and grandmother, she was employed as a waitress, cook and nurses aid. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family at reunions and also for her children on family events. She also helped with some relief society food preparation with one of her greatest friends Kelly Moody. She collected ceramic dolls, music boxes, and glass roses. Her favorite times were spent with her family, either at home or at Mt. Tabby Resorts in Tabiona, Utah. She is survived by her husband, Barry M. Fett of Provo; children, Timothy Burrows of Provo and Linda Michelle of Springville; Katie Ann (Ivan) Shelton of Orem; step-children, Jay (Karen) Fett of Hinesville, GA, Bret Fett and fiancée Faith France of Milwaukee, WI and TeriLynn Fett of Clinton, IA; siblings, Terry (Judy) Herbert of Provo, Mike (Jan) Herbert of Salt Lake City, Linda Valdez of Provo, Jack Distefano of Tabiona, Phil Distefano of Provo and Bill (Lori) Distefano of Provo; sisters-in-law, Mary Herbert of Provo and Mary Dayton of Jefferson IA; brothers-in-law, Gary (Marian) Fett of Seward, NE and Terry (Cathy) Fett of Moline, IL; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Charles (Lola) Fett of Jefferson, IA; brother, Robert Herbert of Provo; sisters-in-law, AnnaLee Distefano of Spanish Fork and Beverly Fett of Longmont, CO; brothers-in-law, Alfonzo “Ponch” Valdez of Provo and Bill Dayton of Jefferson, IA; nephews, Michael Shane Valdez of Provo, Spencer Shulz of Lincoln, NE and Austin Cousins of Denver, CO and niece, Stacy Herbert Sheffield of Salt Lake City. The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health Care and Hospice and their staff of doctors, nurses, nurse aids, chaplain and social workers for the care they have given to her at this time along with Orchard Park Nursing Home of Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Lakeside 10th Ward Chapel, 2225 West 620 North, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
