Meredith "Tut" Amos
January 14, 1923 - January 31, 2011
Our beloved Uncle passed away on January 31st, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born on January 14th, 1923 in Payson, Utah. He is the oldest of two children of Meredith & Iris Done Amos. He was raised in Payson and attended school in Payson, graduating from Payson High School. He participated in sports and was an excellent athlete. Tut served in World War II as a Pilot in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Education. Tut taught school at Preston Junior High where he served as coach in several sports and taught Math, Health and History until his retirement. He would commute back to Payson every weekend so he could golf with his buddies. Two of the things he loved most were Bridge and golf. He played tournament level Bridge throughout his life. He was very intelligent and an avid reader. Tut loved history and loved staying up to date on current events. He also enjoyed spending holidays with his family. He is survived by three nephews: Dale Amos of Payson, Stephen (Janine) Amos of Spanish Fork and Hal Amos of Spanish Fork and great-nephew and great-nieces: Bryan Grow, Kristen (Sione) Kinikini, Deidre' (Gavin) Ransom, Ashlee (Tyler) Jones and Amber. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert (Mary Grace) Amos. We love you and you will be missed dearly, Uncle Tut! Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Payson City Cemetery, 805 East 400 North, Payson, Utah. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #68.
