Miriam Kellogg Batley
March 7, 1928 - March 31, 2011
Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Sister passed peacefully from the earth surrounded by her family, to be with her eternal, loving Husband. What a reunion it will be! She will be greatly missed for her faithful devotion to her family and church. Miriam Elaine Kellogg Batley passed away March 31, 2011 of natural causes at the age of 83. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elaine was born March 7, 1928 in Shiloh, New Jersey to Charles "Grampy" and Emma "Nana" Kellogg. After Nana and Grampy were baptized into the LDS church, their journey lead them across the country to Layton, Utah. Elaine attended Brigham Young University where she met the love of her life, Lawrence Keith Batley, who had been serving in WWII. They were married in Layton, Utah on October 12, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 30, 1964. They spent their honeymoon deer hunting at Sheep Creek where they got lost and ended up in Diamond Fork Canyon and bummed a ride back to camp the next day. Keith started his plumbing business in December 1959. Keith and Elaine's favorite pastime was traveling extensively across the county in their "motoring home". They especially loved to go to Alaska, the coast of Washington, and Oregon while crabbing in the "tuna cruiser". Oftentimes they came home with a new motor home or a new car in tow behind. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carole and brother Gordon. She leaves behind a brother Charles "Chuck" (Mary) Kellogg of Brigham City; and her greatest joys, her five children, Jerry (Norma) Batley of Mapleton, Carole (Wendall) Brodie of Orem, Vera (Kent) Peterson of St. George, Beverly (Brad) Paxman of Salt Lake and Miriam (Ned) Campbell of Springville; 15 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Elaine's grand and great-grandchildren lovingly call her "Grandma Great". The Family would like to thank the Love Hospice care team and especially Merrilee and Roger for their loving, tender care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Elaine will be buried in the Provo City Cemetery next to her loving husband, Keith. Condolences may be sent to the family through Elaine's obituary on www.bergmortuary.com.
