Myron L. Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Myron L. Johnson, 90, left this life on Friday, December 20, 2013 in the early morning hours in Provo, due to complications after suffering a stroke. Born September 20, 1923 in Lakeview to Lafayette Mads Johnson and Iris Sarah Webb, he was the oldest of four children. He married Joyce Beatrice Rueckert in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 30, 1948. Myron grew up in Lakeview and worked with his father building homes and on the farm. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem and enlisted in the Army on June 7, 1943 after attending just two semesters at BYU. He served in Central Europe including France, Belgium, and Germany with 208th Field Artillery Battalion. He was very proud to have served his country. Upon his return he was employed at Ferre Mill and later the Provo Post Office where he worked as a mail carrier for 27 years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, keeping his little fruit orchard, and traveling to Yellow Stone National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. He always tried to take his family on a vacation every summer to one of these destinations. At other times, he could be found putting together model airplanes and jig saw puzzles, doing crafts, and woodworking. Each of his children and grandchildren has been the recipients of many of his creations. Myron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce, his children Valerie Ann (Noal) Messick, Shelley, Idaho; Myron David (Gayla) Johnson, Lehi, Utah; Kristine Wood, Provo, Utah; Denise (Kent) Purdy, Elk Ridge, Utah; his brother William Webb (Georgia) Johnson, Mesquite, Nevada; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, siblings, and three grandchildren. We will miss you pa!! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Grandview 10th Ward Chapel, 1600 North 1880 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9-10:45 a.m. Burial will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
