    Opal Burnice Gotcher

    July 24, 1925 - February 10, 2020

Opal Burnice Gotcher passed away February 9, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving children. Opal was born July 24, 1925 in Owens, Texas to her parents Calvin Bullard and Viola Coffee. Her father died when she was 3 years old, she was raised in a Christian home. In 1954 she received a missionary couple at her home from Ashton, Idaho. She immediately accepted the LDS faith, and never varied from her testimony of her new found faith. She remained in Texas until 1977 when she moved to the Orem, Utah area. Opal was an extremely energetic person. She worked many different jobs from a very early age, which included housekeeper, waitress, salesperson, sales manager for Tupperware, Avon, and she had a real estate license. In her later years she was an accomplished seamstress, working at ZCMI, Bridal World, and sewing for the BYU International Dancers. Opal felt her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. She was happiest when she could gather her family together, always cooking what she felt would please each one. At Christmas it was such a special time because of the homemade candy. Everyone looked forward to their box of candy. Opal was a true people person. She could always be found serving others, even being awarded Advocate of the Year for her efforts of improving the life of people with mental retardation. Opal is survived by her 4 children, Perry Gotcher and his wife Barbara of Conroe, Texas; Jimmie Sue (Cricket) Lancaster of Orem, Utah; Jacqualyon Robertson and her husband Brett of Taylorsville, Utah; and Calvin Modawell and his wife Terry of Troy, Michigan; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is going, preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, and 1 grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Berg Orem Chapel, 500 North State Street, Orem, Utah. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 -1:50 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
