    Richard Kruitmoes

    November 26, 1925 - December 5, 2015

Richard passed away on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, UT. He was born Nov. 26, 1925 to Theodore and Anna Gall Kruitmoes in Ogden, UT. He attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. Dad served in WWII as a tail gunner in a B-17. He completed his 24 Sorties and was honorably discharged from the 347th Bombardment Squadron 99th Bombardment Group Army Air Forces May 7, 1945. He returned home to Ogden and married Joan Joy Clevenger on June 6, 1947. They moved to Provo in 1950 where Sherwin Williams had sent him to establish the first SW Paint Store in Utah County which he managed for 35 years. After his retirement, he and his two sons, Mark and Ted opened Canyon Paint in the former Utah Timber and Coal building which they operated for 23 years. Dad loved to golf and traveled with mom to play the game he loved. After mom passed, he continued to do the same with his great friend and significant other, LaRue Taylor. He was a lifelong member of the Provo Elks Lodge #849 and the Alpine Country Club. Special thanks to all the people from CUVH who treated dad with respect and dignity to the very end. He loved you all. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan and sister Mary. He leaves behind his two sons, Mark and Ted, 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, UT. Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1-1:50 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills.
