    Richard Bruce VanAudsal

    April 17, 1933 - July 5, 2019

    Richard Bruce VanAusdal passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2019. He was born on April 17, 1933 to Bruce Daniel and Elda Mary Limb VanAusdal in Santaquin, Utah, the second of five children. He grew up in Santaquin and the Provo/Orem area. He served in the US Army during the Korean War conflict from April 1953 to April 1955, and then served in the reserves following his service. He married Dorothy Lafay Smith in 1956 and together they had four children. They were later divorced. He married Jolene Barney September 5, 1964 in Provo, Utah. They were happily married for 54 years until her passing, April 11, 2018. He worked in the mines in Lander, Wyoming. He then worked for many years for Ideal Mattress, making mattresses; following that he retired from Granite Furniture, after many years of working as the warehouse manager. He is survived by three daughters, Dixie (Joe) Davis, Vickie (Shawn) Williams, and Bonnie (Dale) Baxter; a sister, Carol (Clyde) Lassen; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jolene; a son, Evan VanAusdal; a sister, Lorraine Topham; twin brothers, Ronald and Donald VanAusdal, and one great-grandchild. The family would like to express a special thank you to his aide, Andrea Huff, his angel sister-in-law, Gail Barney, who helped with both Richard and Jolene’s care for many years, and his sweet sister, Carol, who brought him meals and companionship often. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street. Friends may visit with the family at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Monday, July 8, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery Tuesday. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
