Shirley Belle Hohmann Howe

Shirley B Howe, died May 28, 2018. She was born July 13, 1928 in Bothell, Washington to Oscar Hohmann and Belle Affleck. They moved to Provo, Utah when Shirley was 17 and she then graduated from Provo High School. She married Francis E. Howe July 7, 1947 in Provo, Utah at St. Mark’s Lutheran. They had two daughters; Colleen and Kathleen. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, serving in many positions. She was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2162. While in the VFW, she was the President of Utah State Ladies Auxiliary for several years. During World War 2, she was in a marching band in Seattle, Washington that performed with the USO shows for the military. She was also an aircraft spotter in the Seattle area. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and husband Francis, and she is survived by her two daughters; Colleen (Lynn) Bird, Syracuse, Utah, and Kathleen Sorensen, Payson, Utah, four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
