October 23, 1933 - January 13, 2021
Sidney Arthur Bourne, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend, peacefully left this mortal existence, and embraced in the loving arms of his parents on January 13, 2021. Sid “Squeaker” Bourne was born prematurely on October 23, 1933, in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada, to his adoring parents Sidney H. and Helga Bourne. Even though he was little, he was mighty. Sid grew up learning many things from his own much loved father, such as carpentry and the ability to fix most everything. He was blessed to have found the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he joined the church at the young age of 14. His mighty spirit and stubbornness helped with many goals, one of which was achieving a Bachelors degree at Brigham Young University in Geophysics. This is where Cupid’s arrow struck and he fell in love with his eternal companion Nedra Houskeeper. They were married in 1959 in Orem, Utah and later sealed in the Cardston Alberta Temple. They started their young married life in Utah and moved to Canada where they started their family. Years in Canada were full of love, laughter and many adventures, including Polar Bears. Sid and Nedra’s family grew with the birth of their first child Nedra, then came Cordell, followed by Tanya and then Jacinda. Many friendships were made while living in Canada. He and Nedra enjoyed cultivating those special relationships, however, time had come to move back to Utah and achieve a Masters degree in Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University. At this time is when Celeste “the caboose”, completed the family. Sid loved his family and was very involved in taking care of his wife and children. He provided many opportunities for his children to learn the love of music, which included many music lessons. Sid loved to cook and entertain his family with many delicious meals. His favorite was turkey dinners with all the fixings. Sid loved being a dad and was very involved in their care and many activities they enjoyed. Sid’s green thumb and love of gardening created an abundance of flowers and vegetables. He was very proud of his garden. His garden was a place where he demonstrated his gift by teaching his children and grandsons. Sid shared this love with neighbors and friends with sharing the wealth of his vegetables, plants, and flowers. When he was in his garden, he was lost in the joy of providing and cultivating, the only way to find him was his signature hat. Sid loved reading the scriptures. He would search and seek out a greater understating of those priceless words held within. He shared this love with his children and with others who shared this sacred interest. Sid’s mind was bigger than his body. He understood and wanted to learn things that held interest to him, such as politics and history. Sid also had a tender and deep love of animals, which included many pets. Those sweet little spirits also loved their daddy very, very much. Sid is survived by his wonderful wife, Nedra; his children, Nedra (Randy) Fleming, Cordell (Ruth) Bourne, Tanya (Michael) Robinson, Jacinda aka Cindy Lou Whoo and Celeste (Shaun) Shepherd; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding him were his parents, Sidney H. and Helga Bourne; sister in law, Delene Houskeeper; and his loving pets, Pixie, Cricket, Candy, Misty, Cadee and Cluck Cluck. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:50 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Hills, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
