Vivian Vilate Kohler Murri Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Vivian Vilate Kohler Murri, our beautiful, sweet mother passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2014 at the age of 94, one month short of her 95th birthday. Vivian was born Oct. 26, 1919 in Midway, UT to Mary Bigler and Ernest Kohler, the youngest of 7 children. She grew up in Midway on the family farm. Her first job was at the Schneitters Hot Pots, now the Homestead Resort. She learned to work hard at an early age. She graduated from Wasatch High School. Vivian married William Ray Murri on Sept. 1, 1938 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She and Ray lived in Provo throughout their married life raising 4 children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was employed by JC Penney Company for 25 years. She had numerous talents, making beautiful porcelain figurines, crocheting, sewing and gardening; growing beautiful violets. She and Ray loved camping and traveling with friends and family. Her favorite thing of all was spending time with her family. Her home was a place for family to gather and have wonderful times together, especially at holiday time. Vivian is survived by her children: Blaine (Debbie) Murri, Diane (Charles) Kimmerle, Gladys (Ralph-deceased) Coomes, Janice (Gary) Jacobson; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; parents; siblings: Rex Kohler, Gladys Turner, Willard Kohler, Venus Hinote, Russell Kohler, Lowell Kohler and great-grandson, Stetson Whipple. She will be remembered for her caring of others, her unconditional love and the example she set for her family through her love of the gospel. A special thanks to the staff at Curo Hospice and Elk Ridge Assisted Living Center for the kindness and tender care they gave to Mother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Midway City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com.
