    Wanda Harris Adams Kirkwood

    January 13, 1918 - January 21, 2014

Wanda Harris Adams Kirkwood, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away January 21, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born January 13, 1918 in Lindon, Utah to Leonard Owen and Viola Gillman Harris. She attended school at Lindon Elementary, Pleasant Grove Jr. High and Sr. High and L.D.S. Business College. She married Dewey Adams and had her first daughter, Geraldine. A few short years later, Dewey died and left her a single mom at a very young age. She married Bert L. Kirkwood in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1940. Bert's daughter, Roberta, joined this new family and Rosalie arrived 5 years later completing their family unit. Wanda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions such as primary president, young women's leader and relief society counselor. She also served in the Provo Temple in her later years. She worked for the Pleasant Grove Post Office, Utah Power and Light Company and Mt. Fuel Supply Company as credit manager. Her hobbies were sewing, handwork, crocheting, quilting, gardening and travel. She was never afraid of hard work and taught us all to put forth our best efforts in everything we did. Mom and Dad had lots of friends. They belonged to a Rook card game club that met for over 40 years as well as a Book of Mormon study group. They enjoyed many trips, parties and vacations in the company of good friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband Bert, daughter Geraldine, and daughter, Roberta. Her only surviving daughter is Rosalie Jensen along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her brother Myles Harris. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 1-1:50 p.m. prior to services. Interment will follow in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com. The family wants to express a special thanks to the Cove Point and Envision Hospice Care staff for all of their loving care.
