Wesley Cloy Smith "Pops" Obituary (1952

Wesley Cloy Smith “Pops” passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 30, 2016. He was born to Jesse Norman and Myrle Smith on July 17, 1952 in Provo, Utah. He was educated at Edgemont Elementary, Orem Jr. High and graduated from Orem High School. He then went on to receive his license as an electrician. He married Barbara Mortensen on September 28, 1973. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple for 28 years. Together they raised 4 children. Everything he did revolved around his children and grandchildren. They were his greatest joy. To Wes, family was the most important thing in his life, which he showed daily. He also loved adventure, animals, horseback riding, mountain bikes, camping, hunting, fishing, and travel. He learned good work ethic on the farm. After high school he became a sheet metal worker and went on to become an electrician, which brought him the most joy during employment. He was a member of the IBEW 354 Electrical Union and a member of the LDS Church. Wes was preceded in death by his son, Weston Cloy Smith; parents, Jesse Norman and Mryle Smith; and brother, Norman Jay Smith. He is survived by his sister, Donna Hall; children: Lindsay (Chris) Dry, Weston’s fiancé Autumn Hopkins, Lacy (Reggie) Jones, and Andraya (Jake) Williams; grandchildren: Auston, Skyller, and Allyssa Dry; Gracie Hopkins; Braidon, Jesse, Ethan and Asher Jones; Jaydon and Vincent Cloy Williams; and his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, East Lawn Memorial Hills.
