William Shane Fawson
May 7, 1966 - June 30, 2018
W. Shane Fawson passed away on June 30, 2018 at the age of 52 of natural causes surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from Oak Ridge School in 1988. He started his career shortly thereafter, working as a teacher’s aide in the Provo School District and then in the Nebo School District. He retired at age 51 after 29 years of providing intuitive and compassionate care for students with disabilities and their families. During his school years he participated in Special Olympics, competing in swimming, basketball, soccer and cross-county skiing and went to the international games three times. Known for his infectious smile and mischievous personality, Shane made many friends in all walks of life. He was an active member of the Mapleton Young Adult Ward. He loved cowboy movies, the Wizard of Oz, country music, lighthouses, StarWars, ice cream, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, and both BYU and U of U teams. But most of all, he loved his family and the staff and students he worked with every day. He is survived by his parents Kris and Bill Fawson, his nephews Wade and Ky, his brother-in-law Jeremy Johansen, and by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Heidi Johansen and his grand-parents. The family would like to thank the staff at Sierra Bonita Elementary School for their friendship and love for Shane over the years. We also thank the staff of Stonehenge-Springville for their loving care of Shane during his short stay there. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Mapleton Stake Center, 970 North 400 East, Mapleton, Utah. Friends may call at the church Thursday, July 5 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
