Zane Kay Wall Obituary (1933

Zane Kay Wall was born on May 2, 1933, in Mount Emmons, Utah to Peter Nephi Wall and Mattie Lucile Mower Wall. He was named after his father’s favorite author, Zane Grey. He was the 4th of 10 kids and grew up on the Altonah Highway in Altamont, Utah. Soon after graduating from Altamont High School, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. During his time in South Korea, he worked as a Quartermaster and a camp cook. After serving a successful tour of duty, he was honorably discharged in May 1955. Zane Kay completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Utah State University, and around 1963 he began his career teaching in Ely, Nevada with the White Pine County School District. During his 30+ plus year career at White Pine, he was able to influence many lives and help generations of people in the community. In his earlier years, he taught younger students at the elementary level, and also special needs students at the Lane City School. He received great satisfaction from helping the children express themselves through arts and crafts. He later became a teacher at White Pine High School teaching art. Additionally, he helped coach the boys basketball team and advised the yearbook. While teaching, he pursued additional education and received a Masters Equivalent and was lacking his final project to complete his Masters Degree in Fine Arts. He loved the children and worked tirelessly to be a good mentor and an example to the students in Ely. During the summers, Zane Kay loved going “out home” to the Uintah Basin. He loved seeing his family, fishing, hunting, telling stories, and researching fables of buried treasure in the Basin. Many memories were made with his nieces, nephews, and other family members. Zane Kay was the father of two sons, Steven Kay Wall and Kevin Kay Wall. Both of which he was very proud of, and they were always on his mind. He loved to brag about his sons and his many grandkids. He played a very active role in his family’s lives. After retiring, he moved to Provo, Utah in 1999 to be closer to medical care and his family. He loved his neighbors and ward members. Zane Kay is survived by his loving children Steven Wall (Ericka) and Kevin Wall (Adrienne), his brothers and sisters, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mattie Lucile Wall, his sisters Emogene Wall Thacker and Colleen Wall Kerr, and his brothers Jack Wall and Clifton Wall. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 5, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah 84604.
