Our wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Bette Collene Pace Farrer, passed away on April 25, 2026 at the age of 88.
Collene was born in Provo, UT on August 4, 1937 to Kenneth LeRoy Pace and Elizabeth Anna Wilde. She graduated from Provo High School in 1955. She met her soul mate, Ralph Farrer, when she was a Junior in high school. Their first date was to a drive-in movie to see "The Long, Long Trailer." They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on Friday, April 13, 1956.
Collene was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life, but she was well known as Den Mother for the cub scouts. She served as the Ward and Stake Primary President and the Ward and Stake Relief Society President. She was able to serve a Mission with Ralph in the Texas Dallas Mission after their retirement. She also served as a temple worker in both the Provo Temple and the Provo City Center Temple.
Collene worked as a seamstress at Levens, and later The Tux Stop working for Ralph. Later on, she became the Office Manager for an Orthodontist, Dr. Holdaway. She wore many hats, but her greatest accomplishment was mom and grandma.
Collene loved Yellowstone. It was her favorite place. All of her kids and most of her grandkids have had the privilege of going to Yellowstone with her. She was the best tour guide and in her younger years out hiked all of the kids. She loved seeing the wildlife and even in her later years when she was unable to hike went to Yellowstone a few times a year to look for animals. She broke her femur while in Yellowstone with family. That was an adventure to remember. She thoroughly enjoyed going on a trip to Israel and Egypt. She loved "walking where Jesus walked and being in a boat on the Sea of Galilee." She also loved riding on a camel and seeing the tombs.
Collene loved her family more than anything. She attended all sporting events, dance competitions, school functions, baptisms, birthday parties and weddings for all of her kids and grandkids. Even events that were out of State. She continued doing this until her health kept her from doing so just a short year ago. Each child and grandchild knew they were loved and supported and will always remember grandma being there for them. She never forgot a birthday. Even if she came to visit on your birthday, you would still receive a birthday card in the mail.
Collene made the best homemade chocolates. She could have started a business, but just did it for fun. Those in the neighborhood looked forward to her Christmas treats each year. It was a lot of work and a lot of time, but done out of love. She lived her life in service to others. Whether it be helping a neighbor clean or taking dinner to someone in need. One Thanksgiving we sat down to eat dinner and noticed she wasn't there. She was taking food to someone down the street.
Collene is survived by her loving husband Ralph and their six children; Kim (Mark), Craig (Sunhee), Blane (Patricia), Melanie (Bret), Jason (Desi), Natalie (Kyle); 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and her sister Joyanna. She is preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Glenn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2026 at the Rivergrove 1st Ward Chapel, 780 North 700 West, Provo, Utah.
