Deana Miller Smith Obituary (1962

Deana Diane Miller Smith was born on October 20, 1962, and was a strong woman who knew what she wanted. She endured two bouts of cancer and on February 24, 2024, she went out on her terms as her heart gave out and she returned home, free from all the pain and worries that weighed her down. She joined her family who had all passed before her, and who she missed very much: her Mom and Dad, her two brothers, and her best pal Smokie, her cat who lived to age 20. Deana worked at Rite-Aide for 38 years as a manager and was able to retire and enjoy her husband, their home, some camping trips and visits to Las Vegas and Wendover before she fell ill. Deana is survived by her husband of 14 years Alex J. Y. Smith of Provo, his family who loved her like their own, and her dear friends Adrianna and Vernon Hanks. Deana loved documentaries and sitting snuggled on the couch with Alex in the evening watching movies. These are a few words from the theme song to Gladiator that Alex dedicated to his love: “The Son of Righteousness, Son of morning Light, Shine high and below! Shine Aeolian! (Indefinitely) Shine now, O Great I Am! Shine now, O He Who Was! Shine now, O great to Come! Now we (you) are Free!" No public services will be held.
